Road Trip nach Dunedin
Endlich geht es mal ein bisschen weiter weg und ich kann wieder etwas neues entdecken!
Gemeinsam mit Shannon mache ich ein paar Tage Weihnachtsurlaub in Dunedin.
Am 22. Dezember haben wir uns auf den Weg gemacht und in Oamaru gleich einen Zwischenstopp eingelegt. Wirklich eine sehr nette kleine Stadt.
Danach ging es gleich weiter nach Dunedin denn für den Nachmittag haben wir einen Surfkurs gebucht. Vorher sind wir aber erstmal in das Ferienhaus von Shannon’s Familie eingezogen. Die Lage und der Ausblick sind einfach traumhaft. Nur leider ist dort noch ein bisschen Arbeit notwendig bevor man richtig einziehen könnte.
Aber zurück zum Strand. Surfen macht mir immer noch genau so viel Spaß wie in Irland und ich werde bestimmt bald in einen eigenen wetsuit und ein Board investieren.
Am 23. waren wir ganz gemütlich in der Stadt unterwegs und haben ein bisschen Sightseeing gemacht. Der Bahnhof dort ist einfach wunderschön, wenn ich das nächste Mal da bin fahre ich auf alle Fälle mit einem der historischen Züge! Abends hatte ich mein erstes stonegrill Dinner. Also eigentlich muss man nur sein Fleisch auf einem heißen Stein braten… Hat aber sehr gut geschmeckt!
Am 24. war noch ein bisschen Weihnachtsshopping auf dem Programm, dann waren wir noch mal surfen und die steilste Straße der Welt wollte natürlich auch noch besichtigt werden.
Auf dem Heimweg haben wir noch bei den Mooraki Boulders angehalten und einen kleinen Spaziergang an Strand gemacht.
Road Trip to Dunedin – Pre Christmas Holiday
Together with Shannon I went for a little pre-Christmas Holiday to Dunedin.
We startet our trip on the 22nd with a short stop at Oamaru – a really nice small town.
After that we continued our journey to Dunedin because we had a surf class booked for the afternoon. But before we went surfing we moved into the holiday house of Shannon’s family. The view and the location are just amazing. Sadly there is a little bit work to do before you could move in for living there. (I think I found another place where I would really love to life!)
But let’s go back to the beach. I still think surfing is so much fun. I definitely got addicted to that sport after I tried it in Ireland this summer. I think it won’t take too long until I buy my first wetsuit and board.
The 23rd was a little bit lazier. We went to the city and did some sightseeing. I absolutely love the train station. When I go to Dunedin the next time I’m going on a train ride with an old antique train!
And for dinner I had my first stone grill. It’s so simple, you just grill your meat on a stone – like back in the old times – and it tastes absolutely delicious. Something I would do again.
On the 24th we had christmas shopping on our to do list (I know, it’s not good to wait until it’s that late). But we also went to see the steepest street of the world – and I’m very glad that I don’t live there, that must be so horrible in winter… And of course we also had to go surfing again – one of the things I could never do at home for Christmas.
There was one last stop planned on the way home. I wanted to see the Moeraki Boulders and so we went for a nice walk at the beach.
