Laka Wanaka mit Melanie und Maria
2 freie Tage gemeinsam mit Melanie – die müssen natürlich sinnvoll genutzt werden!
Der Plan ist gemeinsam zu den Lakes Tekapo und Pukaki sowie zum Mt Cook zu fahren und dann anschließend weiter nach Wanaka. Dort wollen wir eine Nacht übernachten und dann am nächsten Tag zu den Moeraki Boulders zu fahren und an der Küste entlang zurück nach Hause.
Ganz spontan hat sich uns auch noch Maria angeschlossen und so sind wir am Samstag in der Früh zu dritt nach Wanaka aufgebrochen.
Nachdem wir endlich in Wanka angekommen sind gönnen wir uns erstmal ein Cider und dann wird gemeinsam Abendessen gekocht! Und im Hostel gibt’s natürlich – ganz genau – Nudeln mit Tomatensoße.
Nach einem leckeren Abendessen geht es an den See und wir können uns noch ein paar erfrischende Drinks!
Am nächsten Morgen gibt es ein leckeres Frühstück und wir machen uns auf die Suche um den Wanaka Water Tree zu finden…
Anschließend machen wir uns auf den Weg Richtung Ostküste um die Moeraki Boulders zu sehen. Vorher werden aber noch zwei kleine Zwischenstopps am Shag Point und am Punakaiki Leuchtturm gemacht.
Nach unserem letzen Zwischenstopp machen wir uns auf den Weg nach Hause – Geraldine wir kommen.
Roadtrip to Lake Wanaka with Melanie and Maria
Melanie and I have two days off together and we have to use that time. Our plan is to drive to the Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki and see Mt. Cook before we head to Lake Wanaka. We are going to stay there for one night at the YHA before we want to go to the east cost and see the Moeraki Boulders on the next day.
Very spontaneous Maria decided to come with us so the three of us started this road trip on Saturday morning.
First we stopped at the Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki and were fascinated by how blue they are (this nice blue colour comes from the glacier gravel). Then we went on to see Mt. Cook and walked to kea point to see a small glacier lake. After a little snack we just wanted to drive out off the valley when we saw that backpacker who wanted to hitchhike and decided to offer him a ride – apparently he was german – so we took him back to Lake Pukaki.
We dropped off „our“ hitchhiker and continued our journey towards wanaka. Not too far from Omarama we picked up another hitchhiker, this time it was a girl – but she was german again.
When we finally arrived in Wanaka we had some ciders at the sun deck of our hostel and cooked pasta for dinner. Of course we had to enjoy the nightlife and so we went out for a couple of drinks and spent some time at the lake before falling to bed very tired.
After a late breakfast on Sunday morning we searched the Wanaka water tree and then finally got on the road to the east coast where we first stopped at Shag Point, then at the Punakaiki lighthouse and finally at the Moeraki Boulders before hitting the road towards home.
What an amazing weekend we had!
