Schon wieder ein Wochenende in Christchurch oder eigentlich doch nicht. Ich bin nämlich in Lyttleton bei Gill eingeladen.
Gill hat mal einen Winter im Kleinwalsertal gearbeitet und dort meinen Vater kennen gelernt, der zu dieser Zeit am Schlössle-Lift gearbeitet hat. Ich hab sie jetzt ungefähr 30 Jahre später in Neuseeland getroffen.
Aus einem kleinen Spaziergang wurde dann meine erste Bergtour. Oben auf den Port Hills angekommen hab ich dann erfahren dass von der anderen Seite auch eine Seilbahn hochgefahren wäre…
Aber es hat sich gelohnt. Die Aussicht vom Vulkan Krater war großartig und der Blick auf Christchurch und Lyttleton einfach einmalig.
Und damit es mir nicht langweilig beim Laufen wird, sind wir ein Stück des Crater Rim Walk gelaufen und anschließen über den Bridle-Path wieder zurück nach Lyttleton.
A weekend in Lyttleton
I got an invitation from Gill to spend a weekend with her in Lyttleton and I accepted the invitation (of course, what a question). Gill worked for one season in Kleinwalsertal (where I am from) and there she met my dad who was working at the last ski lift on her way home). About 30 years later I met her in New Zealand.
The plan was to go for a short walk with the dog but at the end I made my first hiking tour with Gill in New Zealand. We walked up Port Hills and when we were up there, I could see the gondola that is coming up from the other side (I usually would have taken that…). But it was worth walking up there as the view is just great. It’s stunning how far you can see over Christchurch and down to the port in Lyttleton.
We walked along the crater rim walkway and then took the bridle path back down to Lyttleton, that’s something I would definitely recommend to do.
